Staff of Life: Wheat & Bread
Saturday, Jul 19 2003 to Friday, July 25, 2003
Joseph Schneider Haus and Gallery - 466 Queen Street South, Kitchener
Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m, Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bread was a staple food among Pennsylvania-German families, including the Schneiders, and the bakeoven was a focal point for the Hausfrau. This week the rye-coil baskets, the dough box, and the wooden peels will be brought out as the Schneiders make rye and whole wheat bread. Although Friday was traditionally bakeday, our bakeoven will be "fired up" every day this week. Call (519) 742-7752 for more details.
